Early Life

Alex Hormozi grew up in an immigrant household where academic performance and career stability were emphasized. He completed Vanderbilt University in three years, graduating magna cum laude, and studied Human & Organizational Development with a focus on corporate strategy.

After college, he accepted a job in management consulting. Within a few years, he left the role and entered the fitness industry.

The Toughest Years

Alex started as a personal trainer and opened his first gym. The business struggled early. Poor lease agreements, inconsistent revenue, and limited cash forced him to cut personal expenses and sleep on the gym floor.

When the gym approached failure, he rebuilt the operation by adjusting pricing, improving sales scripts, tightening fulfillment, and focusing on client retention.

The Major Breakthrough

After stabilizing his first gym, Alex expanded to multiple locations. Revenue increased, but margins stayed tight because operations depended on his direct involvement. Instead of continuing to expand, he focused on documenting and standardizing every part of the business.

In 2016, Alex and Leila Hormozi (His wife) founded Gym Launch, using these systems to help gym owners improve offers, sales, and operations. The company grew rapidly by focusing on measurable outcomes rather than branding.

Reaping the Rewards

Gym Launch became the foundation for additional businesses, including Prestige Labs, a supplement company, and ALAN, a software platform for gym management.

In 2021, private equity acquired Gym Launch and Prestige Labs for $46.2 million. ALAN was sold separately in an all stock transaction. Following the exits, Alex and Leila launched Acquisition.com, a holding and investment firm that partners with businesses generating roughly $1M $10M EBITDA.

The firm provides capital, operational support, and leadership. Within four years, the portfolio surpassed $250M in annual revenue. In 2025, Sharran Srivatsaa was hired as President to support the next phase of growth.
